Both Team Visma | Lease a Bike and Team Picnic PostNL are positive about the event and commented in 2024: “Our teams have a strong Dutch foundation, and we wholeheartedly welcome a new, innovative Dutch multi-day race. It’s great for our fans and partners, and above all, a fantastic boost for Dutch cycling.”

Former top cyclist Erik Dekker, the last winner of the Ronde van Nederland in 2004, shared his experience and looks ahead to the impact of this new race. “When I heard about this plan, I was immediately excited,” Dekker explains in the podcast. “I naturally thought back to my last victory, and it’s about time that record gets broken. It’s great that the Netherlands now has another international race.”

Race itinerary
The Tour of Holland 2025 will consist of a prologue and five stages, all characterized by the innovative nature of the event.

Tuesdag, October 14 -> Prologue The Hague
The Hague will welcome the Tour of Holland and host the “Dutch Depart,” which includes the team presentation, a cycling festival, and a wide range of activities for cycling fans in and around Sportcampus Zuiderpark. The Tour of Holland will kick off with a surprising evening prologue in and around the Zuiderpark.

Sports alderman Hilbert Bredemeijer: “After the Tour de France Femmes, another major cycling race is coming to The Hague. The Hague’s Dutch Depart will be a sporting cycling celebration for and with the whole city. The special evening prologue in the beautiful Zuiderpark is a perfect start to the Tour of Holland, and I am proud to welcome the cyclists and fans to The Hague.”

Wednesday, October 15 -> Stage 1 Dordrecht – Dordrecht
The first stage starts and finishes in one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The race will pass through several Drechtsteden, and the wind will likely have free rein in the Alblasserwaard, with classic Dutch windmills as the backdrop.

“As we saw with the Tour de France Femmes, cycling is very popular in Dordrecht, and such an event evokes pride,” says Marc Merx, the city’s sports alderman. “The Tour of Holland stage will be even more accessible to the public, as both the start and the finish will be here. It’s fantastic that Dordrecht gets to look forward to such a top event again, and I hope it encourages even more people from Dordrecht to get on their bikes themselves.”

Thursday, October 16 -> Stage 2 Etten-Leur
This stage is dedicated to Vincent van Gogh. The riders will pass several locations in Etten-Leur, the former home of one of the Netherlands’ most iconic painters, during an individual time trial.

On behalf of the Stichting Wielertopsport Etten-Leur, Ronnie Buiks says: “Relive history in the vibrant Etten-Leur with a spectacular time trial following in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh, made possible in part by Brabant Sport.”

Friday, October 17 -> Stage 3 Watersley
Just before the weekend, the Tour visits Limburg. While the exact route is still being finalized, Watersley will be the finish location.

Joop Petit, owner of Watersley, is excited about his cycling province: “Cycling in Limburg makes life so much better, long live cycling!”

Saturday, October 18 -> Stage 4 Drenthe
The VAM mountain has become a well-known landmark in Dutch cycling. After hosting several National Championships and even a European Championship in 2023, this climb will be a decisive factor in the fourth stage.

Henk Jumelet, Provincial Executive of Drenthe, says: “The Tour of Holland enriches our cycling calendar and highlights Drenthe as a true cycling province. The VAM mountain, as the Roof of Drenthe, provides a spectacular backdrop, with a climb of 550 meters and an elevation difference of 48 meters. While the riders make their way up, spectators can enjoy both the sport and the beautiful Drenthe nature. With this event, we are putting Drenthe back on the map for cycling enthusiasts.”

Sunday, October 19 -> Stage 5 Arnhem
The final stage will feature several gravel sections, which will make for a unique and exciting final day.

“I’m looking forward to an electrifying final stage in and around Arnhem. As a true sports city, we are proud to be the final location for this fantastic event. I wish all participants the best of luck!” – Bob Roelofs, Alderman for Sports, Arnhem
