Roxane Knetemann appointed Race Director of the Tour of Holland
First edition of the revamped cycling tour promises a race with character – The Dutch Way
Roxane Knetemann has been appointed as the race director of the Tour of Holland, the renewed multi-day cycling race that will make its long-awaited return to the international cycling calendar this autumn. Her appointment underscores the organization’s ambition to establish this race as a leading cycling event, deeply rooted in Dutch cycling tradition but with a forward-looking perspective – in short: The Dutch Way.
Knetemann, a former professional cyclist and daughter of four-time Ronde van Nederland winner Gerrie Knetemann, brings a unique combination of athletic experience, in-depth knowledge, and passion for the sport. “It is with great pride that I will soon welcome fans, riders, and partners to the start of a new chapter in Dutch cycling history,” said Knetemann. “The Tour of Holland is a contemporary race with international appeal, built on a rich heritage. Only the most complete riders will have a chance at overall victory. We are setting the bar high, as befits a country with a deep-rooted cycling culture.”
The Tour of Holland represents not only elite sport but also innovation, sustainability, and a broad social program. The race offers a unique fan experience, with activities for all ages that blend sport, innovation, and engagement. Earlier this week, the organization announced a collaboration with a wide range of cycling tours.
This year’s edition consists of six stages across five provinces, including a prologue in The Hague and stages in, among others, Dordrecht, Etten-Leur, Limburg, Drenthe, and Arnhem. In addition to the sporting program, there will be a strong focus on recreation, education, and local involvement.
Knetemann’s appointment as race director aligns with the Tour of Holland’s ambition to add a full-fledged women’s race to the program in the coming years – a goal close to Knetemann’s heart.
