Only 100 Days to Go, Get Up and Take Action!
Breda – With exactly 100 days to go until the Wings for Life World Run in Breda on May 5, 2024, now is the time to get moving. Put on your running shoes, start training, and get ready. The Wings for Life World Run is a global event that has been held for 11 years and is taking place in the Netherlands for the third time. Over the years, 1.3 million participants from 195 countries have raised more than 48 million euros for research to cure spinal cord injuries.
Catcher Car
The Wings for Life World Run is the largest running event in the world and is best known for the so-called Catcher Car, a moving finish line that overtakes all participants. As a result, everyone walks, runs, rolls, or jogs the distance that suits them. Half an hour after the runners leave Breda, former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos sets off in pursuit as the driver of the Catcher Car. At set intervals, he starts driving faster and faster, eventually acting as the finish line until he catches the top runners. The last person to be overtaken is the winner.
Famous Ambassadors
But that’s not all! The Wings for Life World Run has several well-known ambassadors supporting the charity. For example, Kjeld Nuis and Wout van Aert have previously appeared in a video message, and sports director Erben Wennemars will be at the starting line again this year. It’s a unique opportunity to participate in this global movement for charity alongside one of the most respected Dutch athletes.
Whether you are a seasoned runner or just starting to train, there is still plenty of time to prepare for this special challenge. The Wings for Life World Run offers not only a great opportunity to push your limits but also to come together for a good cause, as proceeds go towards research to cure spinal cord injuries.
