Extra bonus seconds up for grabs in the ‘Red Bull KM’ during the NIBC Tour of Holland
In the NIBC Tour of Holland, the ‘Red Bull KM’ will be added to four stages. After the Giro d’Italia, the NIBC Tour of Holland is the second race where riders can earn extra bonus seconds in a designated kilometer. The Red Bull KM creates more action along the route, offering riders the chance to secure crucial bonus seconds in the six-day race.
The Red Bull KM is part of every stage except the prologue and the time trial. Unlike the Giro d’Italia, riders have two opportunities to claim bonus seconds. In pre-determined laps, the Red Bull KM is active, allowing riders two chances to win bonus seconds. The first three riders to cross the line in that lap will be awarded 3, 2, or 1 bonus second(s). According to race director Roxane Kneteman, this perfectly matches the ambitions of the new race:
“The Red Bull KM gives riders something extra to fight for during the stage. It adds excitement to the race and for the fans along the road. Experience from the Giro showed that these intermediate sprints can influence the course of the race and the general classification early in the stage. In short, a valuable addition that makes the competition more dynamic.”
The NIBC Tour of Holland will be organized for the first time in the autumn of 2025. The six-day race consists of a prologue and five stages across different provinces and holds UCI 2.1 status.
