Dutch Grand Prix Crowned F1 Promoter of the Year

Dutch Grand Prix Like No Other has been awarded the best and most sustainable promoter of the year 2023! At a festive evening organized by Formula One Management, the Dutch Grand Prix organization won two awards. The Dutch company was presented with the award for best promoter of the year at the F1 Promoter Awards at the British Museum in London. Perhaps more importantly, the Dutch Grand Prix organization was also named the most sustainable of all F1 races in 2023.

The prizes are awarded to the promoter who best fulfills Formula 1’s mission of creating the world’s greatest sporting and entertainment spectacle, and to promoters who also demonstrate a clear commitment to the evolution and growth of Formula 1 worldwide. The assessment was drawn up by a panel of leading figures from the F1 organization and also takes into account feedback from fans. Those present on behalf of the Dutch Grand Prix organization were presented with the award by Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula One Management.

“We are, of course, very proud of this,” Van Overdijk interjects. “That we are seen as the best promoter among all these world cities is, of course, a wonderful reward. We work very hard with three organizations to make this happen: TIG Sports, Sportvibes, and Circuit Zandvoort. Our first three editions are seen as a great sporting and organizational success. Especially socially and economically, the Dutch Grand Prix has given the region a huge boost and, in particular, put Zandvoort back on the map worldwide.”

“That we are rewarded for a varied spectacle in terms of music, show, and activities in the fan zones and in front of the grandstands is, of course, absolutely fantastic. With this, we have shown the world how the Netherlands can also give a major international event its own identity with music, which is an unparalleled experience for both national and international fans,” Van Overdijk continued.

Van Overdijk is also very happy with the award for Most Sustainable Promoter. “In terms of sustainability, we have made a lot of strides in recent years, not least because 98% of our visitors come to the event in a sustainable way. But we are also proud of the smart grid we created in 2022, where we bundled generators for peak loads. This has drastically reduced the amount of fuel used, and we also use HVO100 fuel, saving another 82.5% on our footprint. In 2023, we expanded our energy supply with a fixed power connection and solar panels. Thus, we eliminated a total of 94.5% of our emissions from energy production. And we started testing a hydrogen-powered generator in 2023, so that we can continue to make strides next year,” Van Overdijk concludes.
