Orange Success at Papendal

Papendal Arnhem, where a BMX track identical to the Olympic track in London 2012 was built in 2011, hosted the World Championships in 2021. Despite limited access due to Covid, the stadium was sold out to the last seat. With 211 participants from 33 countries, there was great enthusiasm among BMX riders. The Netherlands performed excellently. Niek Kimmann became world champion elite men shortly after winning Olympic gold in Tokyo. A great achievement. For the women, places two (Judy Blaauw) and three (Laura Smulders) turned orange. For TIG Sports & Events, this was the first ‘introduction’ to BMX.
